Facebook and Instagram’s parent company, Meta, has acquired Manus, a startup developing general-purpose AI agents, as part of its strategy to expand AI investments. Meta did not disclose the financial details of the acquisition, but the Wall Street Journal reported that the deal exceeded $2 billion.
Headquartered in Singapore, Manus develops AI agents capable of autonomously performing complex tasks such as research, coding, and data analysis with minimal instructions. Earlier this year, the company launched its first general-purpose AI tool and, as of December, announced that its annual recurring revenue had surpassed $100 million.

To Be Integrated into the Meta Ecosystem
Meta announced that Manus’s technology will be integrated into consumer and enterprise products, including Meta AI. The company also stated that Manus’s subscription-based services will continue uninterrupted. As part of the acquisition, the Manus team is expected to join Meta’s AI organization.
Meta’s AI Initiatives Continue Unabated
This acquisition comes at a time when Meta is investing billions of dollars in AI to compete with rivals like OpenAI and Google. The company continues to take steps to place AI at the center of both its consumer products and enterprise solutions.
