Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has signed an approximately $100 billion multi-year chip agreement with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to strengthen its artificial intelligence infrastructure. Under the agreement, Meta will procure high-capacity AI processors from AMD over the next five years, significantly increasing its AI computing power across data centers.
On the financial side, the deal includes a special mechanism that grants Meta the right to purchase up to 10% of AMD’s shares, subject to performance criteria. This model aims to establish a long-term and strategic partnership between the two companies.
A Strategic Move in AI Infrastructure
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s objective is to expand the company’s AI capacity while reducing supply chain risks and building a more flexible infrastructure by working with multiple suppliers. This move is being evaluated as part of a broader strategy to reduce dependence on Nvidia, which currently holds a leading position in the AI chip market.

Deliveries and Future Plans
The first chip deliveries are planned to begin in the second half of 2026. Meta intends to optimize this processing power particularly for AI inference tasks and for the daily use of its internally developed AI models.
This agreement is considered a strong indication that AI infrastructure performance and supplier diversification have become strategically critical for technology companies.
